Kingman, IN. (CNS) John Hartman Fisher, 79, died at 7 p.m. Friday (Dec. 28, 1973) at his home on Vine Street in Kingman. He had been in ill health, from emphysema and prostate cancer, and became very thin. His wife, daughters, son and family cared for him at home his last years.
Born May 9, 1894 in Harveysburg,IN, he was the son of John and Pheobe Hartman Fisher. He was married Nov. 11, 1918, in Kingman,IN. to Iola "Oveta" Clore, who survives.
Mr. Fisher was a retired coal miner and carpenter. He was a member of the Modern Woodmen Lodge. He helped build the original suspension bridge at Turkey Run State Park. He enjoyed reading Western novels, and spending time with his family. His Hartman ancestors were pioneers of Harveysburg,IN.
Other survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Grace Garrison (Ralph Garrison)of Kingman,IN. and Mrs Pauline (Gerald) Mauk of Indianapolis,IN. A son, Roy Laverne (Mary "Nina") Fisher of Danville,IL. Four Granddaughters, Iola (Jesse) Bowling, Kingman,IN., Karen (David) Beeson of Kingman,IN., Sheila (Bill)Hehmann of Kingman,IN. and Cynthia K. Fisher of Danville,IL. Also survived by six great grandchildren, John, Sohn and Sammy Bowling of Kingman,IN. and Ralpha and Davanna Beeson of Kingman,IN. and Gary Hehmann of Kingman,IN.
He was proceeded in death by his parents, and five sisters and a brother.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Woodrow Funeral Home in Kingman,IN. The Rev. William Clark will officiate. Burial will be in the Kingman Fraternal Cemetery. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
